It was my hope that my original comments addressing the controversy over the “letters from Jesus” that are received by Brother Giovanni would end my having to comment further on the subject. Unfortunately, The Pizzaonian Council of Monks has reentered the picture.
As many of you may not know, when Brother Giovanni was Supreme Pizzaonian, he ruffled many feathers since he brought significant change to our country. I for one, supported these changes; however, there are still many that believe Brother Giovanni’s influence went much too far, and they are still attempting to cut back and reverse many of the accomplishments of his administration.
When Brother Giovanni revolutionized our industrial pizza complex by forging new agreements with our international pizza conglomerate, Pizza digogo DiVinci, he had to step on many toes. Then to add insult to injury, he solved the health care issue by instituting faith healing and bringing affordable healthcare to everyone.
Unfortunately, even though he brought a better life to all Pizzaonians, he offended a lot of very important people who do not say so publicly but obviously still resent him very much.
Though no one says it out loud, I suspect because Brother Giovanni is a portalized Pizzaonian with a more worldly perspective and from a different culture, there is a bit of racism going on here. There I said it the forbidden word.
Fortunately, for Brother Giovanni, he still has the support of our Supreme Pizzaonian, Sister Veronica. I’m not sure this will be enough as the pressure grows. Quite honestly I’m sticking my neck way out here but feel that I have no choice since I have been a supporter of Brother Giovanni’s policies from the beginning. As many of you know, Brother Giovanni and I have been close friends since the beginning of our Pizzaonian journey.
For that reason, I’m going to stay with him through this regardless of where it takes us. It seems there is a movement to portray Brother Giovanni as no longer mentally stable, and certainly his position on insisting that all letters from Jesus be published to the community is not helping his case.
One of the things that is particularly disturbing to me is all through history many Christian cultures allow you to have a commitment to Jesus that only goes so far. For those who accept the complete message and try to follow it, with a few exceptions like a Mother Theresa, the average person of average accomplishment is usually seen as, quite frankly, a "nut case" if they take the Christian message too seriously - after all, one has to be reasonable and there is nothing reasonable about Christianity.
Most cultures are willing to accept the Christian message as long as it deals with humanitarian concepts and practices. However, once it gets into the political realm - watch out. Though we may have evolved beyond the need for government and wars, we still very much deal with the human condition. I suspect our tribal instincts will be with this until the end of time, and most of us will take it with us to our graves.
In the meantime, I would ask everyone to move cautiously before we make our final judgments on the “Jesus letters” – we need to get some sanity into this and come to more reasonable conclusions.
I’m sure the next “Jesus letters” will be coming soon, and you can count on this controversy to continue.
Until next time, Brother Franco
