“When the heart is good, consistency is the great virtue. Modest talent applied consistently works wonders. Great talent applied consistently works miracles. But without patience nothing will prevail.” Brother Giovanni
“When the pain of the cure becomes less than the pain of the disease, we act.” Diverti Mento, News Director, Pizzaonian News Network.
One thing Pizzaonians learned many years ago is events have a way of playing themselves out regardless of how we try to influence them.
Individuals can and do make a difference in some people’s lives and we see this everyday. However, the events of the day, the events that shape where we go and how we prosper as a people, seem to have a life of their own.
Historically, we can point to temporary exceptions. Occasionally, one person comes along that can make a difference in the well-being of the people they serve.
However, it is only a matter of time until the problem they seemed to have solved, shows up again.
What then was accomplished? If you measure gain by the inch instead of the yard a great deal.
However, it becomes clear that the great issues of life and death, war and peace, poverty or prosperity, freedom or slavery, have infinite life spans that reappear with every generation.
Each of us can make a difference, but the forward movement is slow, an inch at a time for each generation. Those who realize this and continue to serve valiantly are real heroes.
They know their contribution may never be recognized, but they continue to persist knowing intuitively the goal eventually is achievable. And in the quiet of the night, in their small way, they know they are part of the solution and that is enough.
