Part 5 …………… the roadmap
This exercise is not meant to be done in a set time period. For many it could take weeks to seek the right answers to the questions raised. For those who persist to the end the reward is great and well worth the effort.
Define success
“Your definition of success has to cover
many areas, including emotional as well as material needs. There will overlap here, but realistically, you have to stay in range of what you are capable of accomplishing.”
1. List your talents – what you do best? Decide on the best three.
2. What did your definition of success tell you – what do you need for emotional, environmental and material success? How does your answer to the first question measure up to what you need to know?
3. What experience do you have – how can your experience meet the criteria you have decided on from the first three exercises? What area will you need to work on and seek more education or counsel?
4. What is your vocation – what will give you the most satisfaction and help you meet your requirements for success?
5. Will you be able to meet your material needs as you measure your talents and criteria with the vocational possibilities available to you? If not, can your employment and vocation be different? This answer is specific to you alone and must be measured against the responsibilities you now have.
In the beginning, you will be very self-conscious with this process. This is a very demanding exercise, and most people give up in the early stages. One reason for the difficulty is this task requires an honest and open evaluation of your activity. Only those willing to face themselves honestly will continue.
This may seem harsh, but it is realistic. Either you are seeking real change, or you are kidding yourself, and you might as well find out now who you are.
Finally, we are left with this reality:
You have to act to learn. You have to take time from action to analyze what you have learned. You have to develop a level of humility that allows change to take place - all easily said and hard to achieve. This will be your journey. Is there an answer? Only those with the courage to seek their destiny realistically will know.
“I am a realist. I believe in exploiting the possible, not in chasing impossible dreams. Good luck on your journey!” Brother Franco
