The Pizzaonian Way – How we all became Monks
A tradition that takes place with the ordination of each new monk to our community is they also take an additional vow to discuss and argue faithfully and civilly all issues where there is disagreement between one or more persons.
For those who don’t know, virtually everyone who lives in Pizzaonia is a monk. And as a result, a lot of conversation and discussion goes on here around the clock.
Since we are an alternate universe, our concept of monkhood is very different from the religious orders that you have in your world. Pizzaonian monks belong to no religious order of any kind.
That does not mean we are not religious. Every known religion and non-religion are represented in our community. When Pizzaonius, our founder, came up with the concept of creating an alternate universe called Pizzaonia, he knew that once he opened our world to portalization, we would quickly become diverse and multi- cultural.
In addition, each new monk had the added burden of having to adjust to a new world with new customs and emerging new traditions. You can see that without a unifying symbol and motif, creating a peaceful community would be difficult if not impossible.
That’s when the notion of creating the Pizzaonian Monasteries occurred to him. No matter what your background, political, cultural or religious affiliation, we would all be unified as Pizzaonian monks.
The rest is history. We are a universe where there is no need for governments and as a result no wars. We are free to spend our time arguing and debating the important criteria for forming “the good life.”
Obviously, we had to have a way to produce commerce so all could live a decent and fulfilling life. As Pizzaonius was heard to say many times, “Without commerce, without a way to trade and barter successfully, there can be no art or religion - only, when basic material needs are satisfied and shared by all can you have personal artistic and spiritual progress.”
To that end Pizza digogo DiVinci, famed patron of our country and founder of the international pizza conglomerate, Pizza digogo DiVinci, came forward and presented to our founders the idea of creating a national pizza industry that will allow all to prosper. I know, our first thoughts were the same as yours – a pizza company?
To this day the first question that is always asked by newcomers is how we developed Pizza as our national symbol. For one, our founder wanted a symbol that could have no nationalistic or war like connotations
When Sister Veronica, our Supreme Pizzaonian, was a kitchen worker in our bakery, she was the first to witness the miracle of the “Brother Timothy Miracle Mozzarella Pizzas. As each Pizza came out of the oven, imprinted in the middle of the oozing and mouthwatering melted mozzarella was a perfect image of the late Brother Timothy’s face.
And then the idea occurred to her – Miracle Mozzarella Pizza would be the key to our national unity. She considered the event “providential.
To that end, we finally agreed and Pizza became that symbol, but not without difficulty. There you will find an account of the initial trials and travails we all went through in forming this new and exciting place called Pizzaonia.
