Some passing observations as an American presidential election approaches....
The question that inevitably leads to satirical comedy is how can you take serious people seriously anymore? And as the American presidential election gets closer the answer is equally obvious; at least to us Pizzaonians, you can’t.
In the so-called real world even issues of life and death are treated as news releases intended to get the public’s attention and little else. What is left is a world of headlines with little time for interpretation. And, if the news organization is lucky, it gets enough people’s attention to place a handy commercial or ad close by.
Now is that the fault of the news media, or the public? Is it possible that the news media treats the public like imbeciles because the public is worthy of such consideration? Does the public really have the attentions span of a nat,* or is there some other explanation? Or is it that we live in the age of “bumper sticker wisdom?”
Now I know this is strong, and equally ridiculous, but it is at least, if true, an explanation that has some plausibility to it.
Think about it.
